Kasing Lung
The Story of Labubu and The Monsters
Labubu is the main character in The Monsters series, created by Hong Kong artist and designer Kasing Lung (龍家昇).
Kasing Lung started working on The Monsters universe around 2011, and he shared his ideas through art shows and his own toy designs.
In 2016, Kasing Lung officially introduced The Monsters vinyl figure line, featuring Labubu, Zimomo, Tycoco, Pato, and Spooky as the main characters.
These figures became popular among collectors in Asia.
POP MART Collaboration
In 2018, POP MART, the leading Chinese designer toy brand, partnered with Kasing Lung to produce and distribute Labubu figures on a large scale, ensuring high-quality blind box figures, seasonal series, mega figures, and plush toys under the official The Monsters line.
This collaboration propelled Labubu to global popularity, with releases including:
